U.S. Department of Labor estimates for May 2015 show a 17,000-person increase in the hiring of construction workers, kicking off the summer season with a bang.
The summer months are typically the most robust hiring time in the construction industry. May's considerable employment gains follow a huge April, in which construction was responsible for 20% of all hires made for the month.
The construction sector as a whole has almost a half-million more employees now than two years ago at this time, and nearly 900,000 more than in 2010, when construction employment was at its worst.
Expect the growth to continue. Fortune.com reports that the JOLTS survey finds a 36% increase in job listings over last year. That means the time is right to be proactive in the job market.
