**Position Title** Civil Track Designer / Engineer - Rail

Canada - Alberta


**Job Summary**

The Transportation business line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Track and Civil designer or engineer for the Edmonton Office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Reporting to the Alberta Rail Lead, provide engineering and technical support to the Rail Group project managers

+ Provide assistance to other Transportation disciplines (Roads, Planning, Aviation, Structures) as project needs dictate

+ Prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings of railway track and grade that meets client and AECOM quality standards

+ Prepare computer 3D and 2D models that can be used to generate plans, profiles, cross sections, and quantities

+ Produce plan sets including the filing and archiving of drawings, and assists with quality reviews before drawings are released

+ Review field submissions to verify consistency with the approved construction drawings, and assisting with answering RFIs

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Technical Diploma

+ 2+ years of civil/track design experience

+ Proficient with Civil3D Software

+ Experience developing conceptual through detailed design packages while ensuring consistent quality

+ Experience estimating and tracking quantities

+ Familiar with CN, CP, and AREMA design guidelines

+ Demonstrates analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities. Detail-oriented

+ Works independently with general guidance except for complex and unusual situations

+ Ability to assist with training less experienced designers and drafters

+ Demonstrates excellent communication skills and eagerness to tackle new and unusual opportunities

+ Team player who is willing to take ownership of assigned work with ability to establish and meet deadlines consistently

+ Willingness for occasional field work and travel

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering

+ CET Designation, EIT or PEng

+ 4+ years railway design experience

+ Prior field experience (surveying, construction monitoring, etc)

+ Both Transit and Freight Rail design experience

+ Experience developing design basis memorandums, technical specifications and contract documents
