**Job Summary**

Contingent on award of contract, AECOM is seeking a 1st shift Custodial Supervisor for our maintenance operation within a major manufacturer in South Carolina.

+ Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 3:30pm - Midnight; hours may vary based on business demand.

+ This position requires a valid driver’s license.

The Custodial Supervisor reports to the operation’s Custodial Manager and provides direct oversight of the daily custodial operations of this location including, but not limited to: maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, providing high quality service levels, training and coaching employees, adhering to company policies and procedures and ensuring a safe working environment.

This position requires familiarity with supervisory principles and practices; experience planning, directing, assigning, scheduling and directing a custodial staff of 20-25 employees; and knowledge of modern cleaning methods and preferred methods of cleaning and preserving floors and cleaning materials, disinfectants, chemicals, etc.

Successful candidates must understand or be willing to learn basic budgetary and administrative principles and practices; demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; recognize and correct inappropriate behavior; communicate and write effectively; and work cooperatively with other departments.

Custodial Supervisors must be willing and able to work outside typical work hours to ensure the success of a project or event, and must respond to emergencies during off-hours if necessary.


+ Supervise custodial employees responsible for keeping buildings and equipment clean, orderly and presentable at all times. Ensure overall success on project execution.

+ Inspects work areas, work in progress and work completed.

+ Confers with Custodial Manager regarding custodial activities and problems.

+ Respond to customer questions and complaints to ensure positive resolution.

+ Ensure adequate supply inventory.

+ Recommend and implement improved work methods and procedures.

+ Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are enforced.

+ Maintain high Security standards in department at all times.

+ Reports any building deficiencies to appropriate contact.

+ Prepare written disciplinary actions, memos and employee performance appraisal.

+ Ensure all time and attendance records are kept up to date.

+ Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

+ Enforce a consistent training program for department.

+ Inspect all equipment for proper operation.

+ Effectively maintain a professional and supportive relationship with all other departments on contract.

+ Perform related duties as assigned and required.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements:**

1. High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

2. Four years of custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience, plus 1 year of supervisory experience.

3. Valid driver’s license.

**Additional Information:**

+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

+ This position requires a valid Driver’s License.

+ This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

+ This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

**Physical Requirements:**

+ Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

+ Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.

+ Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

+ Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

+ Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

+ Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

+ Requires frequent moving of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

+ Exposure to dust, noise, fumes, toxic materials (i.e., bleach, latex, cleaning fluids, etc.), and food items (i.e., seafood, mayonnaise, peanuts, etc.)

+ May be required to work in close and/or hot spaces.

+ Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, walking, standing for prolonged periods of time.

+ May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.

+ Requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods and frequent bending, twisting, reaching and turning.

+ May be required to work from heights, ladders and elevated platforms.

+ Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

**Special Requirements:**

+ Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

+ Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

**Preferred Qualifications**

1. Certification in facilities operations, maintenance or housekeeping fields of study (e.g., IFMA, LEED & LEED-EB, APPA, CFM, etc.).

2. Experience planning, directing, assigning, scheduling and directing a custodial staff of 20-25 employees.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of modern cleaning methods and preferred methods of cleaning and preserving floors and cleaning materials, disinfectants, chemicals, etc.

4. Familiarity with basic budgetary and administrative principles and practices.

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word and Excel.

6. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences (e.g., custodians, operators, engineers, management, customers, etc.).

**Other Attributes:**

+ Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
