**Job Summary**

The Industrial, Power, Oil & Gas business unit of AECOM in Austin, Texas, is seeking an intermediate level electrical designer to function as part of a multi-discipline project team to deliver design packages and technical work on assigned projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in electrical design. Accountable for the completion of assignments to the high standards of AECOM and the Client, within budget and schedule. Typical projects can range in value from $100,000 to $50,000,000 and encompass all phases, including engineering, procurement and construction

This designer is responsible for initiating and developing both electrical and instrumentation controls engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers. Electrical work involves preparation of power, lighting and grounding plans, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, circuit schedules and electrical details for installation of electrical equipment. Instrument work involves preparation of P&ID’s, Instrument Index, Instrument Location Plans, Instrument Loop Sheets, Wiring Diagrams, Junction Boxes, Installation Details, and Data Sheets associated with in-house projects. Individual must be familiar with instrumentation and DCS/PLC hardware. .

Responsibilities include:

+ Uses CAD, electrical design and 3D modeling software.

+ Draws master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.

+ Develops one line diagrams, equipment general arrangements, wiring schematics, panel layouts and diagrams.

+ Develops control system architecture diagrams and interconnection diagrams.

+ Develops cable tray and conduit routings.

+ Measures factors that affect installation and arrangement of equipment, such as distances to be spanned by wire and cable.

+ Advises supervisor of project status with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems; and confers with engineering staff to resolve problems.

+ Supervise, train and mentor other drafters and designers, and coordinate work within discipline group and other discipline groups on the project.

+ Assembles documentation packages and produces drawing sets; and keeps proper files and records related to assigned design activities.

+ Understands project scope and ensures designs are consistent with project technical requirements and scope, and works to specifications and discipline-associated instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.

+ Reviews completed drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations.

+ Prepares designs and estimates from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams or schematics.

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Associate's degree or completion of technical trade school courses, or equivalent experience.

+ 9+ years of electrical and instrument design experience of industrial systems.

+ Knowledge of the National Electric Code standards.

+ Knowledge of AutoCad and AutoCad Electrical software or equivalent.

+ Field experience providing construction administration services.

+ Valid Driver’s license.

+ Ability to work in team environment and collaborate with others in the completion of assignments.

+ Strong communication skills

+ Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ 10+ years' experience preferred
