**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Lead Environmental Inspector for employment in the Conshohocken, PA office. The incumbent will also work in the New Jersey, and possibly throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast area, in support of natural gas pipeline construction projects.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Lead Environmental Inspector to oversee construction and compliance with environmental permit conditions and implementation and maintenance of best management practices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Ensure a safe working environment is present for themselves and others including participation in daily JSA tailgate training

+ Understanding, maintaining, and enforcing every condition, procedure and mitigation measure listed in the Project permits and work plans

+ Inspection and monitoring of daily construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements, permit conditions

+ Identifying, documenting, and overseeing corrective actions and issuing stop work directly to contractor, if necessary, to stop a non-compliance

+ Verifying that the limits of authorized construction work areas and locations of access roads before commencing construction and verifying the location of signs and flagging marking the boundaries of sensitive resource areas

+ Identifying erosion/sediment control and soil stabilization needs in all areas

+ Inspecting and monitoring the maintenance of temporary erosion control measures per approved plans

+ Approving locations of dewatering structures and slope breakers to avoid directing water into sensitive areas

+ Collection and transfer of water samples required per regulations and permit conditions

+ Ensuring that subsoil and topsoil are tested in agricultural and residential areas to measure compaction and determine the need for corrective action

+ Advising the environmental compliance manager and/or Chief Construction Inspector when conditions (such as wet weather) make it advisable to restrict construction activities to avoid excessive rutting, topsoil/subsoil mixing, or excessive compaction

+ Monitoring and document restoration of contours and topsoil

+ Approving imported soils and verifying that the soil is certified free of noxious weeds and soil pests, unless otherwise specified by the landowner

+ Keeping records of compliance with conditions of all environmental permits and approvals during active construction and restoration

+ Prepare information for reporting as required within project specific permit requirements and provide to LEI

+ Identifying areas that should be given special attention to ensure stabilization and restoration after the construction phase

+ Handling and disposal issues that may arise regarding hazardous materials, such as fuel spills, asbestos and PCB contaminated material

**Minimum Requirements**

+ High School Diploma

+ 2+ years of experience

+ Pipeline construction or similar utility experience

+ Must have knowledge and experience implementing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Plans and Procedures as well state specific best management practices for protection of regulated resources

+ Must be able to work with several personality types on complex construction projects

+ Must have interpersonal skills necessary to manage staff, multi task, and inform contactors of non-compliance requiring action and resolution

+ Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
