**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Mining Process Practice Lead for our Rocky Mountain area. Our global mining growth plan is a key element of our AECOM business plan. The location of this position can be based in Phoenix, AZ, Tucson, AZ, Denver, CO, or Salt Lake City, UT.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Develops and manages mining and mineral processing tailings and water facilities and infrastructure engineering projects.

+ Acts as the lead engineer, subject-matter-expert or independent technical verifier for tailings process and water facilities studies and final engineering deliverables on multi-discipline projects which may involve multiple offices, AECOM business units, and sub-consultants.

+ Accountable for technical discipline approach taking an active role in enhancing and supporting the client’s business case, analysis and calculations, quality, cost and schedule performance and takes corrective action where needed.

+ Prepares and reviews client-ready deliverables, project study and design reports.

+ Acts as the key client interface for tailings and water process, handling, conveyance and distribution infrastructure technical matters.

+ Working with the project management, develops and reviews full project scopes of work and deliverables, services cost and schedule for project proposals and change management.

+ Drives and builds new client relationships and project lead development, business development and client relationship management to achieve a sustaining and industry recognized practice.

+ Supports and may, at times, lead project capture and proposal writing and development.

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Metallurgical Engineering with relevant expertise.

+ Registered Professional Engineer.

+ 20+ years' experience.

+ Broad mining process and tailings industry skills and project experience as a recognized expert.

+ Capability to source and build a professional practice area and team and provide ongoing leadership, team development and management.

+ Ability to mentor, lead and influence a team to enhance performance.

+ Technical business development and proposal preparation.

+ Experience working with major mining consultancy and/or EPC/EPCM firms in the areas of desired expertise.

+ Technical expert in the engineering of wet, dry and paste tailings thickening, filtration and drying, hydraulic design of slurry pumping and long-distance pipeline systems, distribution, and mechanical handling including modeling, sizing and analysis of appropriate process equipment, infrastructure and pipelines.

+ Technical expert in the engineering of large diameter, long-distance, water pipeline design experience in mining and mineral processing applications.

+ Experience with integrity, asset and risk management of slurry and hydraulic systems.

+ Ability to analyze and optimize existing and new systems for operational improvement.

+ Experience with all levels of project front-end trade-off and design studies, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up of tailings and water process projects.

+ Experience in developing process design criteria, flowsheets, P&IDs, specifications, data sheets, equipment and conveyance sizing, construction plans, operating costs.

+ Strong client-facing and communication skills with all levels of the client’s organization.

+ Detail oriented with strong analysis, writing and technical review skills.

+ Ability to lead and grow a mining tailings and water process practice through key industry contacts, subject-matter technical expertise and business aptitude is highly desired in this Doer/Seller role.

+ Strong existing client and mining company technical peer relationships.

+ Aptitude, experience and interest in business development and sales related to the position technical aspects.

+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally on sometimes short notice for site visits, proposal development support, client meetings and project management.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience working with one or more top tier base and/or precious metals major mining companies in a technical expert role related to job duties and skills is highly desired.

+ International mining company and project experience will be viewed favorably.
