**Job Summary**

The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Survey Party Chief for immediate employment in our Roanoke, VA office. In addition, the applicant would support the office design work at different times depending on workloads. The qualified candidate should have a strong survey background and knowledge, be proficient in AutoCAD and/or Microstation software, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, team environment. The successful candidate will coordinate with other members of the water business line team members and various project managers while working on multiple concurrent projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Under direction from Survey Manager, coordinates the daily activities of a field survey party

+ Performs the most technically complex paraprofessional field surveying duties

+ Acts as party chief for a field survey crew engaged in making plans and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, lead engineers, and contractor representatives

+ Assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew

+ Is the senior field surveyor in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures

+ Gathers field survey data through use of conventional, Global Positioning System (GPS) and LiDAR methods

+ Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, robotic total station, data collector, laser scanner and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles

+ Prepares field notes and drawings

+ Performs field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Associates Degree

+ 6+ years of relevant professional surveying and mapping experience

+ Licensed surveyor perfered

+ Surveying knowledge for aspects of Boundary, GPS, Topographic and Control Surveying

+ Working knowledge in CADD using AutoCAD, MicroStation

+ Able to exercise independent judgment

+ Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills

+ Proficient use of PC-based applications ( MS Word, Excel, Access), as well as motivated, hardworking team player with attention to detail

+ Strong work ethic and professional demeanor

+ Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative

+ Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines

+ Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

+ Must possess a valid driver's license

+ Overseas travel and personal background record to allow access to government facilities are a requirement of this position

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree

+ 10+ years of relevant professional surveying and mapping experience
