Gensler’s San Francisco Architecture studio is an award-winning design practice with a collaborative cross-practice, cross-office spirit. Our diverse portfolio of work includes high-rise towers; academic and cultural facilities; airport terminals; commercial office buildings; headquarters campuses; and government facilities. We believe in an “inside-out” design that stimulates and inspires both a building’s users and its surrounding community.

We are searching for a senior level project architect (10-15 years+) with a strong background in commercial core and shell projects and contemporary knowledge of advanced building technologies, components and suppliers.

 Responsibilities:
  • Assist in multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
  • Manage client relationships and team communication
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues
  • Maintain the project manual and specifications
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
  • Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project  

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and 10-15 years of relevant experience as a project architect with a strong background in commercial core and shell projects
  • Architectural license required
  • Experience resolving complex technical and design issues within a range of exterior envelope systems
  • Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
  • Proficiency with Autocad, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency creating technical drawings and specifications that succinctly, thoroughly and accurately describe the work to be done
  • Broad knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively within a range of team compositions
