**Job Summary**

AECOM is seeking a Quality Engineer to be based in our Jersey City, NJ location. This is for the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail project, which is a long term Operations and Maintenance project. Duties will be split between quality assurance and project engineering.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Quality Assurance

Plans and directs activities concerned with the development, application, maintenance, and implementation of quality standards for the project. Performs internal audits and leads outside audits, as required.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

+ Under general supervision, possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.

+ Applies advanced quality engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the development, establishment, and maintenance of quality assurance/control policies, procedures, and methods.

+ Writes quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists.

+ Performs project-wide system internal audits, as directed by management.

+ Leads outside audits by providing information to outside auditors and agencies, as required.

+ Verifies quality standards and test procedures for the design and product evaluation to attain quality economically and efficiently.

+ Provides quality assurance support to assure installation is in accordance with customer and company quality requirements.

+ Documents evaluation, testing, and correction.

+ Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials and maintains a continuous awareness of quality issues.

Engineering

Under the direction of the Senior Chief Engineer, performs various project engineering tasks. These tasks will include writing RFPs, developing cost proposals, and supervising subcontractors and project work.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

+ Develops scope of work and technical packages, performs takeoffs and estimates, and generates material requisitions, as required, in support of preparing RFP's and cost proposals.

+ Coordinate, schedule, and supervise subcontractor preventative maintenance, inspection, testing, and capital work.

+ Work with the MOW Department to provide engineering direction & assistance.

+ Performs various engineering and design tasks as directed

+ Candidate must be willing to be discipline diverse and eager to gain knowledge of the workings of an operating railroad system and necessary maintenance and engineering functions.

**Minimum Requirements**

Education:

+ Bachelor of Science Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience:

+ 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Engineering.

+ Must possess a valid driver’s license with no suspensions or moving violations within the past 3 years.

+ At interview, present a satisfactory driver's abstract showing violations, suspensions, and points for the past 3 years.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Preferred Qualifications:

+ FE (EIT) certificate preferred.

+ May hold lead auditor certification or equivalent.

+ Previous rail or transit experience preferred.

+ CAD Experience.

Additional Information:

+ May be required to work at night and on the weekends.

+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

+ This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

+ Relocation and per diem support are not available for this position.
