**Job Summary**

The Buildings + Places Business Line of AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Sacramento, CA office to provide Senior Design skills for the Northern CA MEP engineering group. The successful Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the day to day project and client management for multiple projects from initial planning through construction. This position will include management of junior engineers, management of subcontractors and may include business development and marketing support for proposals and presentations. Our primary markets are Department of Defense, Health Care, Corporate, and Federal.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Serves as technical advisor; provides senior level input and evaluation on projects

+ Works cooperatively with the Managing Principal evaluating staffing needs

+ Establishes and maintains quality and accuracy standards

+ Works cooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve company’s mission

+ Organizes discipline efforts

+ Plans, develops, coordinates and directs the completion of assigned discipline projects

+ Ensures discipline plans are created that meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule

+ Accountable for assuring that a project plan is developed for each project and thoroughly communicated, understood and utilized by the project lead team

+ Serves as technical advisor; applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to all projects assigned

+ Serves as a quality control reviewer

+ Stays current in codes and technologies appropriate to the HVAC/Plumbing disciplines

+ Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

+ 10+ years of industry-related experience, including at least 3 years of project management experience

+ Relevant experience in mechanical HVAC and/or plumbing design and the preparation of construction documents

+ Registered Professional Engineer in California or ability to obtain by reciprocity

+ LEED accredited

+ ASHRAE and/or AEE Certifications

+ Competent in all conventional aspects of HVAC/Plumbing engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard Mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria

+ Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices

+ Experience in leading teams of in-house and consultant staff

+ Excellent supervisory skills and ability to communicate with and motivate team members

+ Must be able to supervise staff on multiple projects, provide aggressive management, technical leadership and support to team members, verify that all work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with company quality assurance practices

+ Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems

+ Strong technical knowledge and ability to serve in the role as a Project Manager responsible for a multi-disciplinary team in the development of comprehensive, coordinated construction documents for small to large diverse and complex projects

+ Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

+ Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

+ Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel 15% of the time

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Commercial and Real Estate experience

+ Federal projects experience

+ Revit experience
