**Job Summary**

AECOM is recruiting for a new project in South America entitled: Promotion of Best Environmental and Social Management Practices. The purpose of this activity is to facilitate multi-stakeholder agreement on Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the four priority sectors (hydro-power, roads, oil and gas, and mining), and then support the promotion, implementation, and monitoring/enforcement of these BMPs in the Amazon region. Countries of performance may include: Peru, Colombia, and Brazil. All the below positions are technical with a strong preference for South American nationals from these three countries. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement for opportunities in Colombia and Peru. Brazilian Portuguese is a requirement for opportunities in Brazil.

**Specialists in International Environmental and/or Social Best Practices – Mining, Oil & Gas, Hydroelectric Power, and/or Roads** with experience providing technical assistance on the adoption of international best practices in the sectors with the objective to implement the mitigation hierarchy (avoidance, minimization, restoration, and compensation) of negative environmental impacts (biodiversity / ecosystem services, assessment and management of environmental impacts and risks, sustainable management of living natural resources, resource efficiency, and pollution prevention); and negative social impacts (cultural heritage, indigenous populations, management of impacts and social risks, work and working conditions, health, safety, community hygiene, acquisition of land, and involuntary resettlement) of large projects in the Amazon Basin.

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Minimum 12 years of relevant experience working on large projects in the Amazon region and knowledge of the environmental and/or socio-economic regulatory framework in Peru, Colombia, and/or Brazil

+ Successful experience in implementing best international environmental and social practices in the context of these countries

+ An advanced degree in relevant discipline

+ Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Multilateral donor experience

+ Private and Public sector experience

+ Previous USAID experience

+ Experience in corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, industry conflict management, and/or relevant policy aspects for best practice adoption
