**Job Summary**

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the Flight Systems and Platforms contract at NSWC Crane.

This position will be responsible for the development and testing of equipment/materials/concepts both existing and new to enhance an understanding of it's operability and usefulness as well as it's potential impact. This will include the development of plans and procedures to extend existing knowledge and tests to account for newly emerging ideas and concepts. Assignments involve providing expert advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development. In many instances experimental data is nonexistent so it will require the ability to technically defend new concepts.

The position may involve work on varied, complex state-of-the-art equipment systems, combat subsystems, and/or unique equipment systems and subsystems requiring the application of advanced scientific and engineering theories, concepts, and principles. Will serve as a specialist providing expertise in research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition engineering, in service engineering or sustainment of new or improved systems, subsystems or equipment, advancement of technology, or resolution of problems.

Must have the ability to provide technical leadership to a group of engineers, scientists and technical support staff, as well as project management oversight for small to medium project/programs requiring the services of Level 3 and 4 employees or contractors. Development of written plans and presentations to interested parties on program/project status, problems, milestones, etc. is expected. Responsibility to communicate progress to appropriate personnel.

Work consists of varied tasks requiring the application of different processes and methods to a key technological program or industrial emphasis area, or in-depth analysis of controversial or high visibility issues. This requires the ability to make decisions and execute and/or direct actions exploring, reconciling, and resolving major uncertainties, unique situations, obscure problems, or conflicting objectives typically resulting from: the abstract nature of the concepts or the existence of serious conflicts among scientific requirements, technological developments, standards, program direction, and administrative requirements; reliance on inconclusive or variable facts or data, or rapid or continuing changes in program or work requirements; or agency objectives with unusual demands or major constraints (e.g., funding, labor, materials, and scheduling). It will also require the capability of exercising judgment and ingenuity in: evaluating the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, or applications; investigating, predicting, and anticipating issues and conditions extending beyond a single specialty area, and affecting known standards, approaches, precedents, or concepts; developing or collaborating in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or theories changing.

**Minimum Requirements**

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent is required. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
