**Job Summary**

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Technical Writer I** for a position in Tobyhanna, PA.


+ Writes and edits technical manuals to ensure compliance with the maintenance strategy of

+ equipment, and to ensure the latest theories, developments and concepts in the subject area are included.

+ Evaluates and extrapolates technical and engineering source data and presents information tailored to users' needs considering training, education, readability and comprehensibility.

+ Utilizes the latest high-level Information Technology (IT) such as Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and extensible Markup Language (XML), as well as low-level IT such as Portable Document Format (PDF) and word processing, to author, edit and manage electronic documents.

+ Advises Project Manager (PM) on technical manual, including Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), and acquisition strategy.

+ Balances program logistics requirements and the maintenance strategy with user mission readiness requirements to arrive at a viable technical manual acquisition plan.

+ Controls the life cycle management of assigned technical publications. With minimal guidance, develops and produces technical manuals covering the theory, operation and maintenance of assigned electronic communications equipment and/or other equipment supporting major weapon systems.

+ Helps plan the scope and content of the specific project assigned, guiding the project from inception through completion.

+ Schedules projects electronically, using current publications management system.

+ Participates in equipment publications contractor Start of Work meetings and in-process

+ reviews. Continually monitors and advises the contractor throughout the technical manual writing/developmental process.

+ Conducts In-Process Reviews (IPRs) to ensure overall adequacy and accuracy of coverage and content.

+ Edits submitted draft manuals and ensures that corrections are incorporated. Conducts verifications, on equipment, using target audience personnel.

+ Maintains all work in accordance with the approved TYAD procedures for Configuration Interacts in a team environment with a diverse technical work force.

+ May be required to travel to other installations to provide technical analysis and solutions. In addition to any other requirement for written work products stated elsewhere herein a weekly report shall be prepared and submitted to the COR or assigned Supervisor which describes the contractor employee’s work accomplishments for the previous week.

**Minimum Requirements**


EDUCATION: Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing, English Reading and writing, or similar field.

EXPERIENCE: Four years Professional Writing, English Reading and Writing experience and a 2-year Associate’s degree can be substituted for a 4-year degree.
