**Job Summary**

Our Transportation team have a vacancy for a Traffic Consultant with experience in traffic planning and engineering to join the Traffic and Local Roads team in our Manchester and Liverpool offices.

The Traffic and Local Roads team provides concept and preliminary design, network modelling, detailed design, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.

We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

The successful candidate will be joining a growing team that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:

+ Transport for Greater Manchester

+ Manchester City Council

+ Liverpool City Council

+ Merseytravel

+ Highways England

+ Warrington Council

+ Cheshire West and Chester Council

+ Trafford Council

+ Stockport Council

You will be qualified to degree or HND level, working to achieve Chartered status and will have proven design and developing project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget. The role would suit a self motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.

In addition to delivering work within the local office the role will occasionally involve working with other AECOM teams in the UK and Ireland. We are therefore seeking candidates who are able to work flexibly across other AECOM offices as projects dictate to support the wider business.

Further, the role offers opportunities to work in AECOMs wider UK European, Middle East, India and Africa regions.

Key Responsibilities

+ Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.

+ Following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system act as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided.

+ Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.

+ Take an active role in the preparation of feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering schemes.

+ Take an active role in the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.

+ Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation.

+ Support Senior Management of Traffic and Local Roads team.

+ Contribute to the preparation of detailed client briefs, fee proposals and major bids.

+ Develop new and existing client relationships.

**Minimum Requirements**

You will have:

+ demonstrable ability in the delivery of traffic engineering projects.

+ excellent technical and communication skills.

+ an ability to demonstrate experience and expertise in some or all of the following areas:

+ Traffic engineering/management design,

+ Cycling and walking design,

+ Traffic signal design,

+ Bus priority and BRT,

+ Road safety audits, analysis and design,

+ Traffic signing and wayfinding.

+ Parking, road safety and public transport design.

+ Traffic Regulation Orders and parking,

+ Traffic modelling software (e.g. VISSIM, TRANSYT and LinSig etc)

Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable

+ Detailed design and scheme delivery experience

+ Urban Design/Streetscape.

+ Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2)

+ CSCS Card holder.

**Preferred Qualifications**

a relevant Degree or HND and will be working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
