Job Summary

This position is responsible for repairing and servicing office machines such as adding, accounting, calculating machines and typewriters, using hand tools, power tools, micrometers and welding equipment. This worker operates machines to test moving parts and to listen to sounds of machines to locate causes of trouble, disassembles machine and examines parts, such as gears, guides, rollers and pinions for wear and defects, using micrometers, repairs, adjusts, or replaces parts, and cleans and oils moving parts. This person may give instructions in operation and care of machines to machine operators, or assemble new machines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Examine date machines, time stamps, electric staplers and other office machines used in tax processing to determine cause of malfunction.

  2. Make repairs as needed to system furniture and customer property as directed by customer work orders.

  3. Determine maintenance needs and replaces wheels of rolling stock.

  4. Maintain parts inventory for use in daily repairs. Communicate parts needed to manager for ordering purposes.

  5. Maintain files of documents used and prepared.

  6. Maintain key inventory, key making equipment, and repairs locks as requested by customer work order.

  7. Assemble customer equipment as required by work order.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or

environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Two (2) years of job-related experience including basic computer operations skills is required. Must be able to process routine reports, and must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.

Position may require travel.

Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) or rapid gate.
