Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, Building Electrical Power Systems

The Department of Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is soliciting applications for a non-tenured, Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, full-time position, in Building Electrical Power Systems with an anticipated initial two-year appointment. The ideal candidate would be qualified to teach building electrical power distribution systems and related technology including electrical design and coordination of low voltage building systems for security, audio-visual, dynamic signage, building management systems (BMS) and lighting control. This position requires an emphasis on teaching with collateral departmental service. Additional experience in architectural engineering materials and systems, methods of construction and general CAD and/or BIM modeling techniques is considered a plus as opportunities for teaching in those areas are also available. While the initial appointment is for two years, our intention is to renew the appointment every five years subject to performance and available funding. Applicants should have, as a minimum (1) a Master's degree (PhD is preferred) from an architectural engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering or related program, (2) five years of industry experience working for an AE or consulting firm and currently licensed as a professional engineer (P.E.) and (3) demonstrated teaching excellence through academic courses, professional seminars or other closely related activities. The anticipated start date is August 2019. Applications should include cover letter, full curriculum vitae, statement of professional interests addressing the integration of teaching and practice topics and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin on February 19, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. More information about the department is available at www.ae.psu.edu.
