Position Title Environmental Engineer III

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Engineer III for immediate employment in the Beltsville, MD office.

The Environmental Engineer III will support and managed mid- to large-scale environmental remediation efforts in the DC Metro area. Develop conceptual and detail remedial feasibility studies, benchscale and pilot scale workplans, draft and final site remediation documents including Feasibility Studies, Corrective Measures Studies, Remedial Designs, Contractor Bid Packages, QA/QC documents, and Closure Reports.

Apply engineering principles, practices, and technologies to develop remedial solutions contamination on commercial, residential, and government hazardous waste sites within the DC Metro area. A successful candidate will be able to write and convey thoughts in a clear and concise manner, organize data in a precise manner using spreadsheets, and desire to apply new tools, models and methods. Must be able to oversee and work productively with subcontractors while assuring work scopes and safety requirements are met.

The successful candidate will interact with a team of professionals dedicated to providing superior service to our clients. The team has a robust environmental consulting practice that collaborates among the nearly 200-person Remediation Practice in the immediate DC Metro area, with an option to work from any of our primary locations in Beltsville or Germantown, MD, or Arlington, VA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Implements solutions and offers innovations to remediate contaminated sites

  • Designs and pilot tests of remediation system , and directs technicians in operations and maintenance

  • Prepares air and water discharge permit applications

  • Researches and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

  • Produces and reviewes remediation work plans, investigations, and reports for commercial and federal clients

  • Responsible for training and leadership development in remediation and environmental site assessment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited University

  • 5+ years of experience performing remediation alternative feasibility studies, remediation technology selection, remedial design and implementation; experience managing remedial projects through project life cycle phases; thorough understanding of environmental RI/FS/CA process

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with AECOM geologists and engineers, and subcontractors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management experience and skills

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER per 40 CFR 1910

  • PE or EIT

  • Experience with sediment investigations and remediation desirable
