Rochester Public Utilities, a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota (pop. 116,000+), is the largest municipal utility in the State of Minnesota and serves over 57,000 electric customers and 41,000 water customers in a 60 square mile service area.  RPU is accepting applications for the position of NERC Compliance Project Manager, which is a professional position, duties and responsibilities as a Project Manager within Rochester Public Utilities' (RPU) NERC Compliance Program, to ensure compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) Reliability Standards, and Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) electric system operations standards, policies and procedures.  This position will also provide technical guidance, advice, and support to RPU's Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in the development of RPU's compliance processes and procedures. The NERC Compliance Project Manager is supervised by RPU's Manager of system Operations/Reliability and is expected to perform primary and additional duties and responsibilities under limited supervision and general guidance.  

Starting salary range $91,748 to $107,939, depending on qualifications, with advancement to $134,923

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; AND at least three (3) years of electrical engineering experience within  the electric utility industry  with duties in NERC regulatory compliance, transmission planning, or system operations. Relevant experience includes any of the following types of experience:
 

  • NERC project management
  • NERC Standard audits process
  • Collecting data and reports for compliance monitoring and assessment
  • Assist in the preparation of self-reports and mitigation plans
  • Development of System Operations processes and procedures
  • Transmission Planning

*Candidates must possess relevant electrical engineering experience in at least one of the areas listed above; or any combination of experience listed totaling at least 3 years. 

A valid driver's license is also required.
