Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager for immediate employment for the Houston, TX office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Develop preliminary alignments and turnkey cost estimates for future water distribution projects

  • Prepare scope of services for potable water distribution design projects

  • Participate in contract negotiations with consultants including review of proposals and preparation of authorization letters

  • Manage consultants and review civil design plans, specifications and contract documents

  • Review environmental, geotechnical, corrosion control, transient and surge analysis reports

  • Conduct monthly progress meetings for design projects

  • Review consultant invoices for recommendation of payment

  • Assist with construction phase services, including the bid phase, review of addendums, change orders and attendance of monthly construction progress meetings for design projects

  • Interact with government/public officials and clients on significant program matters often requiring coordination between entities

  • Assist the client in developing and maintaining compliance with state and local agencies

  • Assist the client as necessary in developing and preparing documents necessary to obtain project funding

  • Attend weekly meetings with right-of-way/waterline easement acquisition team members and client staff

  • Coordinate right-of-way/ waterline easement acquisition related activities with design consultants, including review of metes and bounds descriptions and exhibits

  • Develop preliminary alignments and turnkey cost estimates of proposed water distribution projects

  • Review design plans of proposed development located within client easements and assess potential impacts

  • Maintain and update program design manual, construction contract documents and standard specifications as appropriate.

  • Review and maintain project billing and financials

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study

  • 10+ years of experience post-graduation

  • Texas Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain with 6 months.

  • Extensive experience in designing and coordinating public utility (water line projects) within public rights of way.

  • Coordination with public agencies, public and private utility companies and various pipeline companies.

  • Background in management/coordination of right-of-way and easement acquisition and eminent domain procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as of MicroSoft Project, ESRI, GIS, AutoCAD,and/or MicroStation).

  • Knowledge of components and operation of municipal water plant facilities

  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Earth

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License in Texas

  • 5+ years of signing and sealing large scale public utility projects in the Greater Houston Area.

  • Construction contract administration and construction phase services in support of large scale public infrastructure projects.

  • Strong affinity for being a team player and working closely with all members of the Project Management Team.
